Cleaves is just daring the reader to complete that sentence with "...as the cartoonist was when drawing this."

It must be state fair season, somewhere, to induce this level of irrational exuberance.

    I mean, is the corn being as high as something a common saying in a america. Because as far as I can gather it's a reference to medical marijuana dispenseries opening in texas or ohio.
