Deb Milbrath, 10/8/13:
Congress is nothing better than a toilet, and Uncle Sam -- representing the "mainstream" government -- is actively trying to destroy those intrepid, freethinking Tea Partiers in the Toilet of Congress -- but, so far, they're too hardy to flush.
Disgusting and the opposite of what Milbrath intended -- quite impressive.

There She Is....
Deb Milbrath, 9/18/13:
I don't think Milbrath meant to imply that Obama personally fixed the Miss America pageant (to let the dark-skinned woman win, presumably) nor that he fakes his birth certificate...but she just did both those things.

Habemas Popemobile
Deb Milbrath, 2/12/13:
There is no established succession plan for the Catholic Church; they have no idea what to do to choose another pope if they lose the one they have.
C'mon -- Ratzy wasn't even the one who started the Popemobile!

And the Movie's From 1983
Deb Milbrath, 12/19/12:
A Christmas Story is set during the Depression, just like author Jean Shepherd's own childhood.
Remember: not everyone in the world is a Baby Boomer.

Joke's On Her: NJ Halloween Has Been Rescheduled For Monday
Deb Milbrath, 10/31/12:
Is this a "everything else was wiped out by the hurricane" cartoon, or something that I, as a resident of "N. Jersey," should be offended by?
Color me confused.

The Trouble With Nowadays
Deb Milbrath, 7/17/12:
Down with those kids with their low-hanging jeans and their new-fangled devices!
Why, in my day we got our video from a TV set and our phone calls down a wire, as God and Ma Bell intended! And we liked it that way!

Your Next President: Stewart Alexander!
Deb Milbrath, 5/7/12:
Yes, it would be amazing if our center-right President were also replaced by the Socialist candidate, but that seems mildly unlikely.

Easter Is Very Taxing This Year
Deb Milbrath, 4/6/12:
Either the woman is lying, because Bob is a filthy heathen who refuses to meet Mr. Baldy McCrosserson there (or is absent for some other embarrassing or odd reason), or Bob is hard at work on his taxes somewhere else.
Both of those scenarios don't really explain why we get to see the empty tax-preparation chair and detritus, so I'll have to throw this one open to the peanut gallery.
Hey Peanut Gallery! What do you think is going on here?

Cupid Don't Fail Me
Now, one has to expect a certain number of Cupid cartoons on Valentine's Day, but one also hopes they will be different Cupid cartoons.
Glenn McCoy:
Robert Ariail:
And then there's Deb Milbrath, who apparently didn't read the memo carefully enough, since this one doesn't quite make sense:
So the GOP Cupid-elephants are trying to make Romney fall in love with...them? Because he's not campaigning hard enough for the Presidential job already?

Not to Be Confused with the Terror DOME
Deb Milbrath, 12/20/11:
So...Santa has his elves working on a toy called a "terror globe," and it came out a little too realistic? Is that what this cartoon is about?
May I possibly ask what that has to do with anything, and how, in any way, this cartoon could remotely be construed as a commentary on any thing in the real world -- even a strained metaphor comparing the "war on Christmas" to the war on terror would be welcome.
Because I got nothing.

When the Last Editor Is Fired...
Deb Milbrath, 12/19/11:
I'm desperately hoping Milbrath is deliberately making a point about the importance of education -- and knocking the Republicans for not supporting it as she would prefer -- with the shaky grammar of "stop anything Obama" and the pure error of "heros."
Will you join me in that hope, or cynically make a different explanation?

Doing Nothing Is Just Like Compromising, Right?
Deb Milbrath, 10/18/11:
Uncle Sam is looking pretty darn ratty there, isn't he? And he's not showing a whole lot of energy or thought, either.

Here I Sit, Broken-Hearted
Deb Milbrath, 9/14/11:
I hang my head in shame today, because a reader had to call my attention to this uniquely awful cartoon.
First of all, it's not every day we see naked butt-crack in the daily paper -- that's quite impressive.
And then there's the central issue: that this poor schmoe is completely unaware that other methods than the US mail exist to get the written word -- even words about sports -- into the home.
(And I don't know which is worse: if that schmoe is a self-portrait of Milbrath or a representation of the men in her life.)

Use This Substitution EVERY Time You See The Word "Love" -- It's Fun!
Deb Milbrath, 5/19/11:
Well, duh, Deb. You'd think you'd never seen a euphemism before.
This is akin to a cartoon strenuously asserting that people with "nice personalities" are, in fact, massively fat.

Two Hands Full
Deb Milbrath, 3/10/11:
All financial products are scams, designed only to enrich the bankers that sell them, who are by definition unscrupulous bastards whistling past the graveyard as they destroy the economy.
Yup, sounds about right.

Note That There's No Attempt at a Pronounciation Guide
Deb Milbrath, 3/7/11:
Political Cartoon n.Hm. I guess this one does count, after all.
1. A humorous juxtaposition of words and pictures designed to elicit laughter and the immediate transferal of the viewer's political affiliations to the cartoonist's preference.
2. Typed words on a sketchy background, with an obvious, hackneyed point and no clear joke.
