Higher gas prices are literally the only thing that right-wingers have to complain about Obama's presidency, and so they're left praying that gas companies and speculators continue to make windfall profits to help their guy out in November, and studiously ignoring the fact that petrochemicals are sold on a global market which is only affect to a tiny degree by anything the US does.
