All petroleum extracted within a country is used entirely within that country; there is no single, globalized market for petroleum products in which a slight increase in US drilling would be a tiny, hardly noticeable change.
Therefore, failing to allow the maximum potential extraction of US oil is the single factor causing gas prices to rise.
